Village Accepts Donation
On Tuesday evening the New Glarus Village Board held its regular meeting to discuss among other things the decision to accept the donation of the greenspace near Candy Cane Park. The Board unanimously passed a motion to accept the land donation with the understanding that the Village will agree to maintain it as greenspace and make it an official extension of the existing Candy Cane Park.
Several community members were in attendance to express their support for the measure. There was very little debate and the Board seemed very willing to accept the donation at the request of New Glarus citizens and the Only in Wisconsin Giving Foundation. This means fundraising efforts will now be in full swing.
New Glarus Cares Community Foundation, Inc. must now raise $120,000 to fund our half of the purchase price for the land and new playground equipment. Deb Carey, Co-Founder and President of New Glarus Brewing Company, previously announced that the Only in Wisconsin Giving Foundation, the charitable arm of the brewery, has generously agreed to match all funds raised by the rest of the community in order to meet our overall goal of $240,000.
If you have previously pledged money for the acquisition of the greenspace owned by Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, please send a check in care of New Glarus Cares Community Foundation to:
