New Glarus Cares Joins Volunteer Initiative

New Glarus Cares is proud to be part of the Volunteer New Glarus initiative, a community-wide effort aimed at addressing the shortage of volunteers in the area. Earlier this year, representatives from over 20 local organizations came together to discuss ways to encourage volunteerism and inspire more community members to get involved. The initiative includes leaders from the Village of New Glarus, New Glarus Fire Department, New Glarus School District, New Glarus Historical Village & Museum, Chalet of the Golden Fleece Museum, Wilhelm Tell Guild, New Glarus Lions Club, New Glarus Vision, New Glarus Chamber of Commerce, and many others.

As part of their efforts, Volunteer New Glarus is hosting an event on Friday, October 18th from 5:00 – 6:30 pm at the New Glarus Glarner Community & Activities Complex, just before the Knight’s Homecoming football game. This event aims to raise awareness about local volunteer opportunities and motivate more people to participate in community activities. Organizations throughout New Glarus will be there to showcase how volunteers can make a difference.

In addition to the event, Volunteer New Glarus is working on two other key initiatives. They are reviving the Welcome Wagon baskets, which will be given to new residents to introduce them to the community and local services. They also plan to create a volunteer database to better organize and promote real-time opportunities for those looking to get involved.

To support these efforts, businesses and community members are encouraged to donate either funds or promotional items for the Welcome Wagon baskets and event prize drawings. Anyone interested in contributing can contact Volunteer New Glarus for more information or to get involved. Together, the community can strengthen its commitment to volunteerism and make New Glarus a more engaged and connected place to live.
