Playground Nears Completion and Ceremony Planned
As work continues on the new inclusive playground at Candy Cane Park, residents are being asked to avoid using the equipment until final construction is complete. While much of the playground has already been installed, the last crucial step—pouring the rubber safety surface—still needs to be finished.
Officials stress that using the equipment before the rubber surface is in place could cause damage to both the playground and the safety features designed to protect children. “It’s important that the community refrains from using the equipment until everything is ready,” said a spokesperson for the project. “We want the playground to be safe and long-lasting for everyone.”
The new timeline for completing the playground has been announced, with the final pour-in-place surface expected to be installed between Wednesday and Friday this week, but the park will remain closed through the following weekend to allow the new surface to set and cure. A grand opening celebration, including a ribbon cutting ceremony and a community potluck picnic, is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, at 5:30 p.m. at Candy Cane Park.
The playground, which is designed to be fully accessible to children of all abilities, is a significant addition to the park and the community. Residents are encouraged to attend the ribbon cutting and enjoy the potluck to mark the occasion.
