Earth Day Community Clean-up Announced

New Glarus residents are invited to roll up their sleeves and participate in the Earth Day Community Clean-up event scheduled for Saturday April 20th from 9 AM to 12 PM.

Organized by New Glarus Cares and sponsored by The Blumenladen Collective, this initiative aims to foster community spirit while making a tangible difference in cleaning up around the community, according to organizer Karen Condouris. “It’s a great way to get together with friends and neighbors as we spiff up the community and clean our environment,” she said.

The gathering point will be the greenspace just north of Fat Cat Coffee Works at 6th Street and Railroad Street. The first 44 volunteers will receive a pair of gardening gloves and a coupon to The Blumenladen Collective. Volunteers will be provided with garbage bags to collect litter and debris. Participants are encouraged to wear gloves and don bright or reflective clothing to ensure visibility, especially near roadways.

The disposal of collected trash will be facilitated through designated trash and recycling dumpsters. Participants are also encouraged to document their experience by snapping a selfie or photo and sharing any unique discoveries made during the clean-up efforts (use hashtag #CleanUpNewGlarus).

Afterward, volunteers are then invited for an Earth Day After Party at The Blumenladen Collective and can try on new clothing at The Boutique, play new games at The Kinderladen, find a new houseplant at The Blumenladen, and keep the party going by supporting New Glarus.

In the event of inclement weather, the rain date is scheduled for Sunday, April 21st, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

New Glarus Cares extends a warm invitation to individuals, families, student groups, businesses, and other community organizations to partake in this meaningful endeavor.
