Championship Cards This Weekend

Organizers have been busy preparing for the World Euchre Championship card tournament and fundraiser at the New Glarus Fest Haus in New Glarus, Wisconsin on Saturday and there have been some exciting new developments to share. The event now has a sponsor and a bevy of prizes for the teams that finish in first, second, and third place.

The World Euchre Championship is now sponsored by Decatur Cheese and New Glarus Fest Haus, which has also been declared the "official cheese curd of Euchre" by the World Euchre Federation. They will be bringing bowls of their famous beer curds to share with people who attend the event. Also, Dan Ziegler, former New Glarus High School teacher, will serve as emcee and Grand Poobah for the event. "With his experience and passion for Euchre, we know he will make this year's tournament even more entertaining," said organizer Todd Klassy.

Prizes have been generously donated by local businesses. In addition to the large championship belts for the winners and medals for everyone who finishes in first, second and third place, winners may receive $100 from Fest Haus, golf passes from Edelweiss Country Club and Swissland Miniature Golf, oil changes from Symdon Motors and RPM Motors, T-shirts and swag from Old Wisconsin and other businesses. The winners and those who will place will also receive piles and piles of cheese curds from Decatur Cheese. Remember, all proceeds will be donated to the New Glarus Cares Community Foundation to help fund the purchase of the park space at Candy Cane Park.
