Tournament Raises Funds for Playground

New Glarus Cares Community Foundation hosted the annual World Euchre Championship in New Glarus last month and it was a resounding success. The event, which is New Glarus Cares’ biggest fundraiser of the year, attracted participants from near and far to visit New Glarus.

All of the money raised by the 2024 World Euchre Championship is being used to help fund the purchase of a new ADA-accessible playground at Candy Cane Park in New Glarus. The goal is to place the order for the new playground equipment within the next week so that it can hopefully be installed yet this year.

Although the euchre tournament was a huge success and raised substantially more money than last year, approximately $5500 is still needed to cover the total project cost, including the park equipment, site prep, and two accessible parking spaces.

"We are so thankful to the businesses who sponsored a Euchre table for the event and the many volunteers who showed up and helped us put on this amazing event," said Mary Siegenthaler, New Glarus Cares board member and tournament director for the World Euchre Championship.

New Glarus Cares is now looking for ways to cover the remaining money it needs to contribute to the purchase of the new playground equipment. Those wishing to donate may do so by sending a check to New Glarus Cares, P.O. Box 458, New Glarus WI 53574 or by donating online at https://www.newglaruscares.com.
