New Playground

The construction of Candy Cane Park’s new inclusive playground is a shining example of New Glarus's community spirit. On a hot Saturday morning, over 50 local volunteers of all ages came together to build a playground that will soon be enjoyed by children of all abilities. Volunteers included members of the New Glarus Volunteer Fire Department and neighborhood residents. Mike Nevill from Chalet Landhaus Restaurant generously provided lunch to keep the hardworking crew energized. At press time, the playground equipment was two-thirds complete, with additional work scheduled for the following days. Afterward, a rubber surface will be installed, and accessible parking added in the spring. Funding for the project comes from the Village of New Glarus, a matching grant from an anonymous nonprofit, and donations from local supporters. This project highlights New Glarus's dedication to creating a space where all children can enjoy the joy of play.
