Celebrate New Glarus Before Homecoming Game
The entire community is invited to come together for a “Community Celebration” on Friday, Oct. 18, ahead of the New Glarus Homecoming football game. The gathering will take place from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on 1st Street, in front of Dirty Dog Taphaus and the New Glarus Hotel.
Representatives from 15 local organizations will be on hand to showcase the work they are doing in the community and offer information on how residents can get involved. The event is part of the Volunteer New Glarus initiative, which is working to address the need for volunteers across the village and spread awareness about the different organizations working in the community.
“This is a great chance to celebrate all that makes New Glarus special and learn how we can help keep our community strong,” said Mary Funseth, a member of Volunteer New Glarus and a key organizer of the event. “We have so many wonderful organizations doing important work, and we hope to inspire more people to get involved and make a difference.”
Participants will have the opportunity to meet leaders from 15 different local organizations, including the Chalet of the Golden Fleece Museum, Girl Scouts, Heidi Festival, Master Gardeners, New Glarus 4-H, New Glarus Boy Scouts, New Glarus Chamber of Commerce, New Glarus EMS, New Glarus FFA Alumni, New Glarus Historical Village & Museum, New Glarus Home, New Glarus Library Board, New Glarus Lions Club, New Glarus PTO, New Glarus School District, New Glarus Volunteer Fire Department, William Tell Guild, and New Glarus Cares..
This family-friendly event will conclude just in time for the Homecoming football game, giving attendees the chance to head over to the field to cheer on the New Glarus Knights.
