Village Accepts Donation
On Tuesday evening the New Glarus Village Board unanimously passed a motion to accept the land donation with the understanding that the Village will agree to maintain it as greenspace and make it an official extension of the existing Candy Cane Park.
Volunteers Needed
New Glarus Cares will be busy raising funds to save the greenspace at Candy Cane Park in the coming weeks, but we need your help. We know it is a busy time of year, but just a few hours can go a long way to help us save Killer Hill for future generations to come.
Board of Directors Formed
On Tuesday, November 15th the New Glarus area community organization New Glarus Cares formally met for the first time and elected its first board members. These stewards of New Glarus Cares will help guide the organization and its members as it continues to work to build a better community.
Exciting News from Meeting
Last week the New Glarus Parks & Recreation Committee met at the New Glarus Village Hall to discuss the request before them concerning the land adjacent to Candy Cane Park that is owned by Shepherd of the Hills Church but is currently listed for sale. A group of over 30 concerned citizens of the community attended the meeting to voice their concerns.
Letters to the Editor
Two letters to the editor appeared in this last week’s edition of the Post Messenger Recorder newspaper regarding the plan to sell the greenspace at Shepherd of the Hills Church in New Glarus. Anyone can write letters to the editor, and it would help our cause if you did.
Important Meeting Tonight
Tonight at 7 PM the New Glarus Village Board is holding its regular meeting in the Village Hall Community Room to discuss the greenspace at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. This is our opportunity to encourage the Village Board to accept the 2.2-acre greenspace as a donation and incorporate it into Candy Cane Park so it is not developed.
This Week’s Meeting is Set
The agenda for this week’s New Glarus Park & Recreation Committee meeting is set. Unlike previously reported here, the meeting begins at 6:30 PM and not 7:00 PM. We will meet outside of the New Glarus Village Hall 20 minutes before the meeting begins.
Citizens Group Formed
This week upon learning Shepherd of the Hills church listed a 2.2-acre portion of green space that has been used by the community for decades, an organization called "New Glarus Cares" was formed to raise funds and acquire the land.
Public Meeting on Nov. 9th
The first opportunity to approach the Village of New Glarus about acquiring the green space behind the Shepherd of the Hills Church at Candy Cane Park will be on Wednesday.

Today community members formed the organization called “New Glarus Cares” in order to help solve issues within the community. It’s primary goal at the moment is to save the green space behind Shepherd of the Hills Church in New Glarus so it is not developed.
